South Cerney
Sri Lanka Tour

Sixteen villagers set of from South Cerney
To Sri Lanka they went on a very long journey.

The tarmac was hot as we checked our bags
Our clothes began to feel like rags.

The welcome from Rohan, Rovalli and Roshni
Made us feel like part of their family.

At Colombo we checked into the Galadari
Joined by the Aussies, who were also foolhardy.

Nigel Evans, well good heavens Was very gymnastic, as he tripped the light fantastic
He fell into the pool, but still looked very cool!

The school was great, the kids were sweet
And even the Governor we did meet.

The bus decided to break one day
But Azhar soon got us back on our way.

We saw sights such as Buddhist monks
And elephants with very long trunks.

Loo stops became a bit of a mystery
As Azhar recounted the local history.

We went into the jungle on safari
As we whistled the tune of old “Daktari”.

Raymond with his nifty camcorder
Was our number one reporter.

Some succumbed to Deli Belly, which was dire
Often known locally as “The Ring of Fire”.

We also went to Sigiriya
Which happens to rhyme with Diarrhoea.

The house by the sea was out of this world
As into the ocean ourselves we hurled.

We briefly visited a turtle farm
Where nobody came to any harm.

The men consumed lots of Lion Larger
Though most of them belong to “Saga”.

We went for a boat ride down the river
Where the sight of a sea snake, made us quiver.

And now we’re back to where we began
And wish we could do it all again.

That’s the end. We thought we were witty!
Just hope you enjoyed our little ditty?
