| Thursday 1st November Our last day in our
apartments in the Strand. We started the day by a visit to
Gordon's Bay where we sat looking out to sea and having a very
early lunch. Sue and I paddled in the sea and then we went back to
the house and had a swim in our pool. At 2.30 pm the coach arrived
to take us all down to the Church for the wedding rehearsal. We
started rather late as there was a funeral going on. However we
met up with Dawn, the priest and the rehearsal went well even
though we were minus some bridesmaids, flower girls and ushers. |
At the rehearsal we met up with some of Jonathan's
friends who had flown in. We went to Megan's favourite pub for a
drink. Here we have Danny, Ben and Sarah. |

| After the drinks, just the family party and myself
were taken to Megan's most favourite restaurant on a wine estate
not far from where they used to live. Here we had a simply
magnificent dinner. We started with a glass of champagne. Here you
see Derek and Clive. |

Friday 2nd November We packed up and left
our first apartment in the Strand and drove to the airport to
collect James Poulton. We drove on into Cape Town and dropped me
off at the wrong hotel. I took a taxi and found the hotel where
Martyn and Padoong were staying. Later we took a lift and walked
on to the Aquarium where we will be having a party tonight, but
where we had agreed to meet Nigel and Joyce. |
| On the way we met up with David and Jackie and
waited until Nigel and Joyce turned up in a hired mini bus. Our
driver took us to the Botanical Gardens, just outside Cape Town. |
First thing we did was to find the restaurant to
have some lunch. Most of us had an Ostrich pie washed down with
beer. |
| Then we walked through this enormous park. Nigel
had to explore an ancient African house. |
The park was full of wonderful plants. |
| On the high part of the park we had good views
looking down over Cape Town. |
Our mini bus brought us back again to Cape Town
and dropped each of us off at our various hotels. I was staying in
a very super apartment which I had all to myself right on the
waterfront. |
| The Waterfront looked lovely in the evening light. |
At the Aquarium we all met up for an excellent
party given by Megan and Jonathan. |
| Tomorrow we have to be up early to get over to
Franschoek and find the hotel where we will be staying for the
next two nights. |
