and The Eden Project
17th - 20th May 2002

First trip was to the Lost Gardens of Heligan near St. Austell in Cornwall. Here you see us in the Kitchen Garden wondering why our vegetable patches look so different to these beautifully tended and even beds.
From the house you can look down over the top lakes, but to go down the steep path to the Jungle and the lower lakes is more than a wheel chair can take.
Walking on through the woodland path there are a couple of wonderful woodland sculpture to admire.
After Heligan it was a short drive down to Mevagissey. Here the sun really decided to shine on us.
We all enjoyed our Cornish ice creams. Some even had Cornish clotted cream on the top.
Oooooooh - what a treat !!!!

Cabaret time in Dave & Jackie's room.
Even Baby Holly enjoyed the fun.
Next trip was to the Eden Project. Here you can see the big domes. Most managed to walk down the steep twisting path into the old China Clay pit, but some caught the train.
Firstly in the Temperate Dome which is not so well established. Plants growing from all over the world.
And amongst the vines various sculptured figures representing Baachus dance the time away.
Then into the Tropical Dome. Here the vegetation is most lush. Streams flow through it and the humidity and temperature levels are high.
Still in the Tropical Dome.
Back at the entrance there is this beautifully sculptured horse made out of drift wood.
Party time again and Derek does his act.

After supper on our last night we enjoyed the entertainment.
And danced the night away.
Quite unaware that we would all be up again at 3.00 am when the fire alarm went off. We waited in the hotel entrance watching the hunky firemen take charge, but it was a false alarm. They all went away again, and we went peacefully back to bed.
