Portlaoise to Rosslaire

Friday 3rd July After breakfast I set off
to drive to Portlaoise but on the way came across the Dunmore Caves.
They are very deep and well presented with a guide. |
|
| Our guide told us all about the limestone that the
caves were made of, and gave an amusing presentation telling us
about the different formations that we looked at. |

|
| I drove on slowly and found the hotel in Portlaoise
that Tiggy had already booked me into. I drove right through the
town but came to the conclusion that there really wasn't anything
worth stopping for. The one blessing was that the hotel had an
excellent swimming pool with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi so I
spent a fair amount of the afternoon there, and the rest watching
the tennis at Wimbledon on the TV. Tiggy, my Goddaughter and her
husband Regis are planning to arrive at around 7.00 this evening. |

 |
I hadn't seen Tiggy & Regis since I played the organ
for their wedding in France some six years ago, so it was lovely to
be able to sit and talk and catch up on all the news. |
|
| Then we enjoyed an excellent supper together |
 |
|
 |
After we had eaten we were treated to music and dancing from a local
group. To see a very short video clip of these dancers click the
shamrock. It will open in a new window, so when finished just close
the window to return here.

Saturday 4th July. The holiday is now ended. I said my
farewells to Tiggy and Regis and left to drive to Rosslare. All the
way it simply poured with rain but soon after I arrived at the docks
the sun came out.
Its been a wonderful holiday but by this evening I will be back
home again. |
